The original Late Renaissance building was rebuilt
in the style of Baroque in the 18th century. The reconstruction of
the facade in the style of Classicism dates from the 19th century
and so the building gained its present looks. This building has been
the seat of the town authorities since the end of the 18th century.
It was also the seat of the Temporary Government of Slovakia for a
short time in 1918 after the foundation of the Czechoslovak
Republic. There is a memorial tablet on the facade reminding us of
this fact. In 1995 a new building was added to the original Town
Hall. It has an inside connection with the historical building and
it was awarded the prize Building of the year.
